Changing the timing belt...
Ok guys, I see this stuff posted a lot...but for some reason, I can never locate it in a search!
Anyways, I am gonna attempt to do my timing belt/tensioner/water pump here shortly, and I was reading thru info to make sure I know what I'm doing.
One guys site said to markt the old belt and pulleys while it is still on the car, and then mark the new belt by holding the old belt to it and making sure there are the same amount of teeth between marks. This doe'snt seem very....i dont know, right?
Now, what I was trying to search for was how to set the timing. I know you need to use the marks on the pulleys. You set the mark that is by itself on the crank pulley at 12 o'clock, and you set the mark on the cam pully at 12 o'clock, and put the belt on, correct?
if I'm wrong, or theres more to this, please let me know! I appreciate it!!

The cam gear has marking... 12 o'clock and 9 and 3 o'clock.
Crank has a marking on the gear and oil pump.. With those line up, it should be TDC.
Don't worry about the belt marking.. That is just to make sure it's the right belt.
This is just me.. When break lose the crank bolt nut. tight it back but not so tight.
Turn it to TDC and then proceed.
