Default GM Syncromesh w/ Friction Modifier

Maybe this can go into the FAQ's. Not lately, but I have seen many questions on what the part number is. On the sidenote, its important that you get the Friction Modifier versus the standard Syncromesh.

GM PN# 12377916

On a side note (and sorry for bumping this) I am told that Pennzoil is the supplier of GM's Synchromesh. Pennzoil Synchromesh is the same as GM Synchromesh, and about a third the cost. Pennzoil Synchromesh with FM is the same, respectivly.

Note on the bottle, how its reccomended for replacing GM part number 12345349 and number 12345577. This is the non-FM bottle pictured.

NOTE: I agree with many, that the Friction Modified fluid is reccomended for Honda manual trannys that have a LSD.

I need some of that stuff again. Replaced with Honda MTF when I changed axles and the the synchromesh was pretty much brand new.

ya, I just did my clutch and flywheel and threw away 30 bucks worth of synchromesh. wasn't really impressed with it to tell you the truth. it made my shifting a little harder and felt rough. I replaced it with hondas new and improved manual trans fluid. it's now got a green label and is modified for better shifting when trans is on the colder side and easier shifts. it works very well and shifting feels much easier then with the gm stuff. my 2 cents.

i tried the gm with fm, i would have to say it's the best out of all the tranny fluids i've tried, these include honda mtf, redline, and motul

I will chime in tomorrrow with a pic. I recently bought some more SM, the friction modified stuff always cam in the square bottle^^ and the non came in a cylindrical bottle. I got a few square bottles but they dont say FM. I will check the part numbers this evening..

Apparently they are not the friction modified stuff. Although its doing well in my transmission
