Upgrading to Big Brake any suggestions?
Is this on a GS-R, or a Type R?
The stock Type R brakes are fine, and don't need an upgrade.
If you want to talk about brakes for a GS-R, that's what the Integra forum is for.

Ken, How rude!

Make sure you put the biggest possible brakes up front and downgrade the rears to the smallest possible to save weight!!
(ok, don't listen to that. It was sarcastic)

Good move.

Have you even TRIED the stock ones on the ITR? They're awesome. You really don't need bigger brakes. If you want an upgrade, just get some aggressive pads of your choice.
Note - one of the reasons I originally bought the ITR was that the stock brakes are so capable on the track, and the ones on the GS-R I was driving were not.

wow
Well, I have a genuine Mugen Gen 2 front strut tower bar for sale.
FYI my ITR's brakes with the right pads are currently better than my EVO MR's stock braking ability. And the EVO MR seems to rival quite a few as per Road & Track testing.

3) SFI rated bucket seats
4) Azenis RT-615 on stock or lightweight wheels
5) Upgraded brake pads
6) 5-point harness
7) helmet
8) Camera mount/digital video camera

I can help you with that too! I live around DFW and can sell you one.
On the serios note, I already know you want just eye candy but coming from Stoptech's BACK to stock ITR brakes, you seriously dont need a better braking system.

A set of Legend calipers would give you dual pistons and some minor benifits in brake pad wear and claimed increase in brake fluid life. Cost about 100$.
Unless your going turbo and running 300 whp, 6-pots are a little overkill. I've never seen a stock ITR on track run out of brakes. Your 1600$ would be much better spent elsewhere on the car.

At least hes honest
At least hes honest
All through my time spent on the track, I have been plagued by well wishers on the NASA or BSR payroll who seem to be keeping track of my Summit Point lap times and making suggestions as time goes on.
First it was a roll bar. Then it was harnesses and seats. Then it was a full cage and blah, blah, blah, blah....
Now the suggestion is for bigger brakes. :/
So... If anybody has a good suggestion for a big brake kit that is time and race proved, I would be entertained to hear it.
These kits must:
1. Fit under 15" wheels. (This is a must in order to save money on R comp tyres.)
2. Be lightweight and rebuildable.
3. Easily obtainable and cheap rebuild kits and rotors.
4. Retain use of DC2 ITR ABS system.
It's possible I'd want to do all four corners instead of just the front, if someone has come up with a full-system ITR upgrade that will fit under 15" wheels.

Please.

The bling factor.
He is just looking for cosmetic upgrades.
EDIT: To the OP:
Although you have money to blow, I would not touch the brake system as most others have said. You won't let them get dirty if you get bling
, and that is a total waste to me.
I was all about cosmetics before I actually got out on the track; just ask Budman.
Best advice,

I don't think you understand. Been there, done that.

Done everything you're talking about...so on w/the brake upgrades?

George, I was speaking to the OP about the advice given by others. I realize that you have experience and many upgrades already. I was not suggesting that to you.
George, try the spoon clappers and see how you like them with your favorite track pads.....
If you don't like them, you can always sell them for about what you paid for them...
If it's not enough clamping force for you, then you might be able to get away with mounting two sets of spoon calipers on the front and one set on the rears... that should be enough braking force for you... :D
