Why I/H/E ???
Everybody always does the I/H/E on their cars first...
is there a reason for this??
It seems to me that there are more mods out there that would give you more performance for the buck.
I have a 2001 GSR, with AEM intake... tonight I ran a 15.1 @ 91.88mph...
Is there no better mods for my money (in the same price range as h/e mind you)
I realize that the h/e will improve the gains seen from any other mods I do... but I wonder if there isn't anything else that will give me more power, better 60', etc.
I'm still drag strip tuning my driving skills... so I'm not ready to spend a bunch of money yet... but as soon as I hit 14's with just intake, I'll be ready to start modding further.
Any ideas??

I/H/E is done first because it is relatively inexpensive and easy to do.
Want a nice gain at the track? Get a set of drag slicks on 13s. I guarantee they will give you more of an improvement than the I/H/E combo will by itself.

Drag Slicks would be cool... but I have this weird thing... where I don't want to only be fast at the strip... I want to be just as fast on the street.
Tires are definitely something I'm considering right now... most likely Azeni's... but slicks are a bit extreme.

they are performed because they are bolt-on. yeah, you can get games/cam gears/valvetrain etc. for similar prices, but that requires you to go into the engine, **** around with it and tune. and some people don't want to **** with their warranties right away. other useful bolt-ons include throttle bodies, intake manifolds, cats, etc.
Why? Street racing doesn't always mean stop light to stop light, in the middle of the day with tons of traffic and pedestrians everywhere. In some cities there are places that people can race with whatever they brung out and its all secluded and as safe as the track can be, just without the waiting and bullshit of the cleaning. In those cases, you cant switch to slicks, so you gotta run it like you brung it.
Thats where the beauty of drag radials comes in...

Yeah, I/H/E are always first because they're simple, easy to do mods. The cold-air intake is the only go-fast mod I felt that was worth the money. If I knew better back then, I would've never put in the exhaust system. Instead, I would have gotten some better tires and a better suspension...mods that actually make a difference.
Instead of H/E, it would be more beneficial to get tires that grip or some cams, cam gears, and tuning. You might also want to look into a lightweight flywheel.
