Default CEL, Searched-EGR & Fast Idle

I just did a JDM H22 swap and I have only one problem. I get a check engine light with code 12-EGR lift valve. The engine also Fast idles when it's cooler out. It's fine when it's warm. Is there any correlation between the fast idle and the egr lift valve? Does the lift valve code mean my egr is bad? Or does it just mean that maybe it's all carboned up and is stuck open/shut and needs to be cleaned? Can I just pop it off and take a can of carb cleaner to it to solve my problem?

What's ur h22 in, a prelude or a civic/teg? If it's in anything other than a prelude than u probly don't have the egr hooked up, no one really does, cause it needs the lift valve and lines off the prelude body, not on the engine, I wouldn't worry about it too much, I have the same code all the time, just get a chipped p28 or p75, or if u really wanna fix it then just get the egr lift valve, about ur idle, what do u mean it fast idles? Do u mean it surges, goes up and down fast? If so then I would check ur FITV, located on the bottom of ur throttle body, it could be clogged and need cleaning, a common problem with swaps.

Thank you... finally. It's in a prelude and everything is hooked up right. I've just never had EGR problems in any of my cars; swapped or not. I've heard that sometimes they get caked with carbon on modified engines and get stuck open or closed. Didn't know if it was true or not.
Yes, my idle surges just like every other honda but, the reason I inquired about the EGR correlation was because it didn't surge for about a month after the swap. Then, within the hour the EGR went bad and threw the CEL, it started surging.
