I cannot....repeat cannot believe I have gone without a gas lense this long. HOOOOOLLLYYYYY ****! The freakin welds are phenominal! My bead was always consistent, but I would get little black tinges here and there, kinda flat looking welds. Since it was kinda gray I would go WAY low on amperage, turn up the gas, move faster, move slower, clean the living hell out of the stuff....nothing would work.

So here I get my gas lense parts and POW, gold welds like whhaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I am like sonofabitch....all this time I been workin my *** off to get nice pretty colorful welds and 10 bucks worth of parts is all it took!

So for the searchers....if you don't have a gas lense...GET ONE! They should sell the TIG welders with these included!

Thanks to all those who helped me out with parts info and encouraging comments. I really, truly can't believe the difference that simple *** part made...amazing!

Tried to call them...it said called during business hours...thing was it was during business hours. Nice stuff...shotty system of sales. When the moons cross and the tides are in harmony and that company allows me to purchase their product that large gas saver front end will be on its way to my house.

Good suggestion there...can't wait!


Hey, by the way, I do have a question. I noticed since I got this gas lense my HAZ has been really "blurry", not sharp like was with the standard cup. Just wondering if that is typical. Usually the outer edge is purple and very defined, now it is widened a tad and blurry.

 

Ok, so i'm realatively new to TIG welding, could you explain to me what it is that I need, adn why it is so much better than the original. Very interested in this, but would like to understand better. If you would rather PM, that is more than fine.

So, a gas lens is basically just a screen that fits inside the cup and helps to direct the flow of argon better?

The other thing there from CK Worldwide is the same idea but with an optional clear cup, right?

This gave me two standard lenses for 1/16 and 3/32, and a jumbo lense for 1/16 tungsten. The jumbo is for real freakin jumbo too! The standards work awesome. It just creates a much more consistent shield making strong, much better looking welds.

No comparison to the standard cup too be honest....knowing what I know now firsthand....you simply shouldn't even bother welding without the lense.

 

i just recently switched over to a gas lense setup after putting it off forever.
i had to order a new torch(yeah,that's a whole 'nother story),and went ahead and got the needed parts for the gas lense.night and day difference.
