Who has experience with Liberty Gears face plate gear mod?
Im considering getting it done (all motor drag car). You cant beat the price, $600 for gears 1-4, almost sounds too good to be true.
Im looking to get some feedback from the guys out there who have actually used the face plate gears.
Any wear issues? Breaking? Fatigue? What is your overall opinion of the modification? What, if any, differences did you notice after having the gears done?

In this instance I think it is. The face plating may help on street cars wanting quicker shifting, but in race only track applications you are still limited to the strength of the stock gears. Basically, youll still break the trans. Step up to the straight cut setup first and you wont have to repay the $600 you put in the faceplating. IMO.

Were talking about a NA aplication making 3XXwhp. This isnt going to be anywhere close to the abuse that the 800whp turbo guys unleash on their gears.
You still think the straight set is necessary?

i used it for about four events about 1 1/2 yrs ago and it would pop out of gear on its own!!! but it was shifting like hot knife on butter!

So in your expierence it popping out of gear over came the benifits it offered. Was is always disengaging in the same gear? High or low in the RPM's?... collecting info as well.

it was good to shift but it felt a lil lose, plus at the dyno it would pop out....for that price and your gear set maybe someone got it to work...when it began poppin' out i stop usin' it!! it was easy to shift into the wrong gear!
Im wondering if the gear selection could be improved with the use of a g-force long shifter? That should greatly minumize sloppy shifts.
