2 issues: 1998 crv wont get out of park and horn goes off
I’ve got two issues in my sister’s 98 crv.
Won’t get out of park , need to place key into the shift lock to allow it to shift into R or D etc.
And also the horn is honking on it’s own! I had her unplug the underhood horn fuse…any help appreciated

i experienced the bugs the cr-v is having over the weekend. I think it has something to do when it rains
so i'm driving and the car starts to honk (beeepppppppp)., all the door lock unlocks itself and the interior lights turn on. i pulled over and pulled the horn stop fuse and of course it stops honking but this also prevents me from shifting the car.
So what I did was unplugged the horn. Any ideas??? it's sort of creepy lol.

yes sir it does have an alarm...i believe it is sidewinder.
it's been in valet mode for at least a year. i thought about pulling it.
over the summer the power locks have not been working i thought it was the window door lock actuator that is faulty.
i guess it could be the aftermarket alarm. i will see if i can get around to pulling it out this weekend...not sure if i need to rewire anything....thanks for the input

over the weekend i unplugged the brain to the security system. it did nothing for the power door lock issue.
i will be picking up a door lock actuator soon...hopefully this is it. keep ya posted
