Default Hey guys..new to this..

I have a few questions..First off I have a 88 Civic DX which I plan on making a reliable, but fun daily driver. First question is..I need a clutch, BAD. Would one of the $100 kits from ebay do the trick? Also, how difficult is the install, and what would be involved?

Second, I want to buy this short shift kit

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

and I was curious to how easy/hard it is to put in, and how long it might take?

I appriciate all the help, Thanks in advance!

yes get the exedy kit from ebay, great clutch. install isnt that bad just need a lot of man power and a couple good jacks. air tools would be an extreme plus but isnt exactly neccessary

for the short shifter put in a couple more bucks and get a good one, B&M, they're like 25-30 bucks or mine was. the cheaper ones are known to break. install is easy, do it while changing your clutch, i suggest getting new bushing while you're at that too

Also, does the ebay kit have everything I need..someone told me to do the throw out bearing while I was in there..anything else I should do when I'm in the trans?

i reccomend this clutch kit, comes with everything, and you say you want alittle fun so get a stage1.its not crazy but it does feel better then stock..http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW comes with clutch disc, pressureplate, throwoutbearing, pilot bushing and alignment tool,,and this is not some piece of garbage clutch, ive installed so many of these things

for actually replacing it its not hard at all..all you need is tq wrencch, ratchet, sockets, normal tools, jack+block of wood, cheater bar,it would really help if you have a 2nd man..and of course a workshop manual for the tq specs and all the directions..and since you're going to do a shortshifter install you might as well just drop the tranny + linkage as 1 whole unit,,and now you dont have to worry about the bitch pin, etc.and get some new shifter bushings,,i use energy suspension bushings and the shifting is tight.

Its fairly easy to put in, but one thing u must be sure of....you gotta make sure that you get the right year clutch and pressure plate because some splines might not line up, as long as u got the right year plate and clutch u good. I just changed a clutch in an 88 rex dx, and the clutch was the right year but the plate that came with it was the wrong one, and vise versa, so i had to go with a 89 plate and 88 clutch. It takes about 2 hours if done correctly. ENJOY, IT SHOULD BE FUN. U CAN DO IT.

When you say "Feel Better than a Stock" how much different than a stock, is the clutch you listed on ebay?

make sure that the throw out bearing spring hooks are connected properly and that the bearing comes out all the way or extends out completely.
