Default Apexi Power FC or Stock JDM P73 ECU?

Hi, My friend have a Bone stock JDM 98 Spec Type R motor with JDM cat and JDM type r exhaust, only aftermarket part is K&N airfilter. He kept everything stock because he wants a reliable Engine for daily drive. Ok, now heres the thing, He has a Power FC with commander laying around that he is selling but apparently no one wants it yet, so he dont' want to waist it and decide to have it tune to his bone stock Type r motor. Will it still be a reliable car? Does the JDM P73 already run perfect and the most reliable? Around how much will the Power FC gain in HP compare to the JDM P73? Which one would you run if liabilty is the first concern and HP second? If the FC is tuned right, will it save more gas? Any comments are welcome

Your "friend"? I thought you said in your FS thread that you're putting a stock JDM ITR motor in your car?

Anyway, If you just want to keep everything stock, just stick with the Power FC. The Power FC will just get you started down the slippery slope of modifying the car again, IMHO.

Also, if power fc is better for reliability, Do I have to have it tune or just leave it with stock map?

so a tuned Power FC is better than a Stock JDM p73, i heard the p73 does not run perfect, why does honda do that, they should keep the A/F ratio at a safe range right?

Keep the Power FC , but use p73 on the car until you are ready to do something else.

can someone tell me what each one will give me characteristic wise, such as will the FC have my idle like a race car?
and reason why each one is better?

everything about the way the car runs is going to be damn near the same, either way. I just don't think it's worth buying a Power FC if all you care about is reliability.

Also, nothing is wrong with running a JDM ITR engine with a JDM ITR ECU. Who told you that?

Sounds like you wanna get Power FC from your friend huh?

No. You can make it to do high idle, but you dont have to since you have stock cams on your motor, it will idle just fine. Power FC allows you to control most engine management parameter, but I think you will lose air conditioning since most race engine management dont have provisions for that. Motec doesnt. HKS FCON-V pro does tho.

I will suggest you to use the p73 at this point, until you get more familiar to ECU tuning and the effect/consequences.

A/C works fine with Power FC.
