car caught fire
So I was driving home from work and i smelt a electrial burning smell i looked over to my passenger seat and saw smoke coming from in-behind my glove box. I immedallity pulled over and riped off my glove box (breaking it) so see smoke but nothing burning.
So I let it go away Figure okay lets keep driving. Five minutes later I smell it again and notice the smoke again. Finally I pulled into a gas station and poped my hood and saw my passenger side headlight plug was completlty melted and all the wiring was slowly burning up into my firewall and in-behind my dash board. I start taking off the covers over the wiring trying to see how far expoised wire is.
I rip apart all the wires that melted together and taped everythin up. Once i was finished I started my car ran fine, i turn on my corners and fogs still running fine. I turn on my headlights and my car dies. (at this point i only have the driver light hooked up and the passenger side plugs i cut off). So I pull my key out of the ignition and wait a few secounds and turn the car back on again runs fine untill i turn on my headlights. So im like scream it its 2am i'll deal with it in the morning.
I'm driving along and im like ill try my headlight again. again as soon as i switch them on it immdelity turns the car off as if i pulled the batterie out of it.
Now I have no idea what this is being cuased by im going to re-wire my headlight tomorrow and hope that that fixes the car from shutting off when i turn on my headlights.
If anyone knows what this could be please let me know ASAP!
(I'll take pictures of everything tomorrow)
Thanks.

Sounds like you put a bigger fuse in some place then you should have. When there is a short like that it will normally blow the fuse and wont catch fire. I know for a fact that you have a higher amp fuse somewhere then your supposed to use. I know this because on day i saw i kept blowing fuses and me being retarded i put a 30 amp fuse (instead of a 15) and i ran into the same problem.

haha that'd be great!. Well i started re-wiring and turns out the warness melted together further inside so in the morning im pulling my dash out and going to the junk yard to find another harness.
also now when i turn my key to ON where the fuel pump turns on then off, well my fuel pump stays on now... so hopfully when i pull the dash and change the wiring it'll all go back to normal

great idea pulling into a gas station when you thought your car was on fire.
anywayz.........you got a big problem with wiring right now and untill you replace almost everything (b/c you dont really know where the problem is) you will have one problem right after the other. good luck.

Check the wiring behind the fuse box. Sounds like the head lights are grounding out and it might be close to the battery ground. Also ive installed a few hid kits and ive NEVER changed the fuse to a bigger one. Reason is fuses are there to protect the..........wire.
To me, it sounds like when you had the HID's, you melted a wire or two and now your paying for it. Your going to have to rip the entire harness out of the car if possible. There are probably a ton of burnt wires all the way through the interior harness too. Its a pain and time consuming, but you might as well do it now, or you will probably continue to have electrical issues.
You shouldn't have replaced the fuse's with a higher one... you wouldn't have this problem right now.

the Brightstar kit required me to change them.
The only part of the harness I havent touched yet is from under the batterie into the firewall.
I have re-done all the wiring in side the car but i left about 4 inches then what goes thrrough the firewall into the engine bay. Worst comes to worst ill cut every end and run every single wire again
