i know i know, i am 30 and goin back to school.
alls i can say being flat rate for the past 14 years frikin sucked. i have had it and want to do this on my own terms. like my own car. he hee.
right now i have the old selstrom i got from northern hydraulics like 10 years ago.
it is the smaller lens, auto darkening. i have already taken the mig course, so i needed it for that class.
i value my instructors oppinion, and just want a few more. he has suggested a nexgen? i have to ask him specifically. but yeah.
i am getting into structurial and pipe so i need a hood that will work well with that.
not worrying about respirators yet, employer actually has to do with that.
links and pics appreciated. thanks in advance.

Get a $25 Jackson big window normal helmet too. Sometimes you don't want to use an autodark helmet and a normal one comes in handy.

I actually think everyone should buy the fancy ones with the paint.
Tell me that's not worth the extra $20!

I don't know about going to Pheonix .Thats not a very nice HOOD.But I live in a good hood now in Calif.
OH wrong kind of hood..Then I would say an old Chevy truck hood. They are pretty strong.
OH one of these

I use the Miller Elite hood. It has a big window and reacts super fast. I have yet to be flashed by a slow reaction time.
Comes with many spatter shields, helmet bag, adjustable straps, padding, and comes with batteries that last 3000hrs.

ok. dont add your comment then.
get over it dude.....
on the other threads did people need respirators for confined spaces? i am not getting a "i need a hood to weld a manifold" i need a hood that may have provisions for a respirator, side lenses, and things that i could use in a structurial setting, or in a man hole welding pipe.
to the others, thanks.

off topic, but what welding school are you going to? I'm from Delaware also and have been thinking of taking some classes.
