Default OEM Radio Question.

I just got my 1998 Honda Accord EX. I put in a CD-R in the cd player and it does not play. It just makes noise like its trying to load. I tried a few burned cds but still does not play. Should this happen or is my cd player messed up?

If it is the factory cd player then it will not play your burned cd's. Look into investing into an aftermarket radio like an Alpine or Pioneer.

I have a pioneer head-unit i took out of my last car. I would put it in but, i like to use the controls on the steering wheel. I can maybe try a few more cds.

I'm sure you could find an Infrared repeater if your pioneer has a remote with it. What this part does is learns the pioneers remote functions and lets you use the steering wheel controls as if you would with your stock radio. The buttons on the wheel send their normal signal to a brainbox which sends the same infrared signal the remote would to the radio through an infrared emitter (a small "eye" about the size of a quarter usually mounted high in the windshield behind the rear view mirror). If your pioneer doesnt have the remote or a remote capable option this would be of no use though.

another factor it wouldn't play burnt cd's is the type of cd you burn it on too, like the one with a label on top or just that film.

I use TDK, or Sony CD-R's. The ones without just that film top layer has a hard time to play for some reason..
