Default Comptech exhaust

I was looking at the axleback unit for my car tonight on some website. Would the LS/RS version fit the R or am i mistaken? I thought i remember that catbacks from the Type R and LS model fit the same? Is this true? If so would it apply to axlebacks? Thanks

Mike

These exhausts have the same length:
'00-01 GSR's
all Type-R's
All LS/RS's

hmm...i would of thought comptech designed their system to not melt bumpers!

anyhow i am just tossing the idea of some sort of exhaust in the air right now. I have a high flow cat mated to a JDM DC header and i also have the bottleneck removed right after the car via a SMS B pipe adapter. I guess the only bottleneck left is the muffler right?

After three 25 minutes sessions (of nearly continuous VTEC), a portion of Chris' bumper had melted. They probably only tested it under street conditions, not track conditions.

Its an old muffler. It might not be in its original form. There is a crack (rusted) where the pipe enters the muffler can. It might have caused the muffler to be at an abnormal angle, thus making it real close to the bumper cover. Austins wasnt that close, as far as I remember.

Chris, you are correct, mine had ~2" between the bumper and the tip, yours is closer to ~0.75"

Hmmm...when I had the Comptech installed on my car I had a little more room than you did...bit I did fool with the hangers on the muffler to allow me some more room...push them closer together and it'll cause the muffler section to hang a little lower.

Kind of looks like a flowmaster with a tip. For what comtech charges for these exhausts you would think it would look a whole lot better.

It is a full stainless exhaust so it will last longer than say a fancy fireball. It's for people who don't want anything too flashy.

I think it looks great with a normal sized tip.
