if it doesnt have the orginal 92 motor but has a newer 99 civic motor does it need to be state ref. bar'd? how does this work? If i get pulled over in california would the cop make me ref. the stock motor? please anyone with information let me know ASAP cuz im about to buy the car.
I don't see why you would have to. They are both d-series. Was the original motor vtec? What about the new one?
cops dont know what engine goes in what. if its just a sohc then i dont see why that would be a problem unless it had like a b, h, or k series. but technically you are suppose to get that bar'd.
If you get a ticket you won't pass BAR. I have a 95-EJ and i was running a d16y8, got a ticket for an intake and when i went to BAR they said i had to switch over to the d16z6 or get all the smog equipment from a 99 and put it on my car. You will pass the smog portion no problem, but the visual you will fail. Which sucks, why should visual even matter? If your car blows clean then it shouldnt matter IMO. Stupid smog rules
