JDM TYPE R CONVERSION headlight problem. Fog Light bulb COVERS broken (PICTURES)
I recently just bought a JDM front end. The headlights were used.
I noticed that the YELLOW cover for the foglights is broken. LOOK AT PICS:
On both headlights, the YELLOW cover is off. How can I fix this? Is it easy?
Any help is appreciated.

Guys come on. Help me out here. I know lots of you have JDM front ends and this is a pretty common problem.
well damn i can actually help you with this....mine did the exactly same thing...both of the lenses inside cracked and fell in...what you have to do is take off the bumper, take out the headlights, and take something skinny put it in through the foglight housing, crack up the small peices, and shake them out or get a small vacum type thing (like the dentists use to suck out the spit from your mouth) and get the rest of the lense out. i did it and its all gone, looks good. and if you want the yellow light your going to need to get a yellow bulb or it will be white like the stock bulbs....good luck if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
the reason why it cracked off is because you used high wattage bulbs..i'm guessing PIAA bulbs? it happened to me too. STAY WITH THE RECOMMENDED WATTAGE BULBS... H3-55w only!
yep the piaa high watt bulbs are not for the jdm housing...the reason that the (my) fog light lenses crack.....but hopefully what i said in the above post will help him out

And how did you break the actual yellow plastic piece? It looks very thick.
Thanks a TON for your guys' help.
i had a freind help me....you may be able to take out the main headlight housing and take it out through there....or use some needle nose pliers and go in through the fog light housing...you should be able to fit something in there to crack the rest of the lense up and then shake the rest out......good luck...ill try to find more out on how to get it out from my friend.
sorry a little drunk right now to remember what we exactly did

this is off topic, but Chris your turbo itr is gonna look sick with that front end. I'd try and add the sidemarkers though.
Chris,
I had no idea. I`m very sorry. Let me know what happens. I also have another lead on a shell for you
Ryan

yeah do not exceed standard wattage for the fog lights. i witnessed one blow up in person... first u hear them crack, and then they explode...!
Ok, guys.... I am STRUGGLING BIG TIME. I can barely fit anything through the small hole in the back where the fog light goes.
I fit a coat hanger in there, but the YELLOW plastic piece is so thick it would not break easily.
Any ideas ? Should I just crack the headlight open? (This is the last resort)

Try removing your Turbo and getting a new light. Then throw that light in the garbage.
guys, can you not just use a heat gun to seperate the housing? i think that would do the trick, it should pull apart pretty easily

UPDATE: I have one headlight cover in pieces, I am still trying to break the other side.
damn i wish i saw the post again before you cracked them open......your going to need a good heat gun, and some sealant......but dont be upset when they start getting condensation in them....which will most likely happen.....i tried getting a hold of my friend to see exaclty what he did but no answer....not that it matters now the headlight is already taken apart....anyways good luck hope it works out for you
NO no no. I didnt crack the housing. I cracked the YELLOW condum cover thingy. It took me like an hour but I finally did it.
I am just trying to get the pieces out now. But I have only done it to one side so the other side needs to be done as well.
Yeah, I definetly DO NOT want to open the headlights themselves.

A few minutes in a 200F preheated oven really does the trick. It will come apart nicely, do what you want. Heat it up again and it will seal back up perfectly.
ok good i misread your post then...glad it worked...yeah it takes along time but does get the job done.....good luck on the other side

What is that supposed to mean? That was really immature, and did not help me the least bit.

Slightly off topic...is there any way that I can use the HID kit that is on my USDM front end with the standard JDM or do I HAVE to get the JDM HID headlights in order to use the HID's that I have now?
