All i know is the front end and back are slightly different.. i have compared mine to my bosses 98+ and you can tell the difference.. but its not that big.. the tail lights are different.. the 94 - 97 having amber in them and the 98+ having all red and white.. The front i havnt compared.. i think the only difference is the bottom of the bumper and that actual shape of the head lights.. im nto sure however.. but you can convert your 94 - 97 to a 98+ body style.. but if you ask me its not worth it.. they look almost identical..

yeah. get the newer for the looks you can also get the older one and throw on the oem kit but i would like to get the older years for the speed since obd1 responds better and less sensors.

engine:
94-95: obd1
96-01: obd2

exterior:
94-95: 5 spoke wheels (optional "organic-looking" wheel for 95)
96: 6 spoke wheels (the one with the centercap covering the lug nuts)
97: mesh wheels
98-01: blade wheels

98-01: front-end, rear bumper slightly redesigned.. all red taillights (minus reverse, of course)

interior:
not sure... to my knowledge, certain things that were previously optional became standard.

disclaimer:
i might be missing stuff...
