painting rims few quistions.
ok... well to start. im one of the guys that will buy the top of the line. do it right the first time kinda thing... when i bought my car the rims were the same color as the car.. i want the inside of the rims ( not the crome lip ) black. and i do not want to sand my rims first. now for the questions.
is bomb canning rims a good idea if u want the paint to stay on forever? will the paint come off ever or fade at all? what paint should i use? if i put a layer of clear coat over the black paint will that make it last longer? (from rock chips and scuffs from driving)
or should i pay someone like a million dollars and get them powtercoated black. plus i have to pay 50 bucks to get all my tires unmounted off the wheels and then another 50 to get them back on..
i hope i went into enough detail on this... thanks in advance for all your help

if this statement were true, then you'd get them powdercoated.

BUT if i can get the same outcome while spending atleast 500 dollars less... why not?! thats kinda what im wondering. if i do 3 light coats of black. then a coat of clear. wont it look the same???
you know what... DIY,
I went through the same dillema when i painted my rims, and thought i would try painting them, and if that didnt work i would powdercoat.
I DID! sand my rims tho, heres my process
400 Grit Sandpaper sanded each rim
2 Coats primer
3 coats Tremclad Black
2 Coats clear
This has held up for over a year, and is JUST BARELY showing signs of fading.
IMO its WELL work the $$$. Plus its easy to change if u eventually change ur mind ( even tho ur only doing the inside of the wheel)

There's always time for beer. Actually, the best thing to do is to plan your painting around the beer. Fventura, you're thinking about this the wrong way around.
Beer first, then paint breaks.

Yup, this is something that isn't news to me... but thanks for pointing it out
(I've also just come back from the pub after finishing work...3 pints of Magners Irish Cider with more to come tonight. Alcohol FTW!
)
To the OP... I agree, that wouldn't look right. They are nice wheels though
