compression ratio to compression test#
I just did a compression test on my motor last night, because for some reason its drinking my coolant. i'd say in the passt month ive had to top it off 3 times adding about 1/2 gallon each time (more or less) Can't find any visible leaks or puddles under the ground so i checked my compression to see if maybe the head gasket seated wrong. I bought a new gauge from advance, and did the test with the injectors unplugged, and the throttle wide open. I got (right to left 1-4) 272,271,273,269 which isn't but a 4psi difference which from my understanding is ok. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to where my coolant is going, and is my compression higher than my calculated 11.6:1 ? Thanks in advance guys.

update, i ran the crap out of it just now on the way home, kinda like an auto cross on some back raods near my house. keep in mind its like 60 degrees here right now. when i got house it was spewing antifreeze from the overflow tank, and the upper hose was tight as crap. any ideas???
either t-stat is closed shut or headgasket is leaking...was the lower hose hot or cold?
compression test won't tell you if the headgasket is blown, you need to leakdown for that
