ACCORD/PRELUDE Transmission Compatiabilty????
I was told to ask this question here on the LUDE forum, maybe you guys would know.
I've already searched and nothing comes close to my question. Only thing is H22w/ f23/22 trannies.
My question is will a 92 Prelude automatic transmisson (i dont know the exact engine code, but the sticker read: 2.3L-- I am assuming its a f23) fit on a 91 Accord with a f22A4 engine? I need to know becasue i bought an AT transmission from the yard off a 92 prelude.
PLEASE HELP, I need to be POSITIVELY sure before I swap the tranny.
Thanks, P.

Sounds like you picked up an H23a1 Auto tranny. I think it will work, but I have an H22a auto tranny that I am selling that would be better if your interested.

I think it would bolt right up, you may need to use the prelude tranny mount and do a little work to get it to fit. The prelude didnt ever come with the F23, just f22, so it is a H23 tranny.

I was just looking for a stock transmission for my Accord. The reverse gear is out. Unless you just want to get rid of it for cheap ($75 or less), then I appreciate the offer. This is just a DD car that I need to repair just the reverse gear. I think replacing the gear is too much time and money so I'd rather just buy a use tranny. The one I bought was $40 and only has 120K so I just grabbed it.

I'm just not to familiar with Accord/Prelude engines and transmissions. I'm more of the civic D/B series person. If it doesn't work -would the reverse gears fit?
thanks again for your replies, P

Is this from experience or just knowledge? This is good info to know though. Is there any websites or forums or any information where I can find that it was or has been done?

If you read around here on HT you will find that pretty much every combination has been tried. I remember something about a copper alignment pin that needs to be removed for some applications though. I believe it had to do with the F23 block if I am not mistaken.
