Default Factory exhaust manifold heat sheild...

Is it important? (obviously, it helps dissapait heat...) Mines pretty sad looking, and I was going to take it off to clean up my block due to some nasty oil residue all over the engine...and was thinking of leaving it off if its not worth putting back on?

Just a personal opinion... its there to keep you from burning your hands, and it doesnt help or harm performance in any significant way. In other words, the facotry exhaust manifold is the weakest link in the system with or without that heat shield.

it may raise bay temps a bit but that's about it, plus it's ugly as hell.. leave it off! or sand + repaint it....

Planning on a sand or repaint but when I seafoamed last night I had way too much smoke from either the valve cover gasket or the exhaust manifold gasket, or a cracked exhaust manifold (only 109k though...).

Pretty sure it was one of the latter two.

If things start getting rough after sea-foam, it could be the O2 sensor got fouled...I love the stuff, but they should sell sea-foam with a new O2 sensor and some spark plugs.

I got a new one to go in just in case, but it says o2 sensor safe (most people just need a new o2 sensor, and the seafoam may discover that, who knows).

Might have fixed my EGR CEL with it though, I was getting up to speed and I got some wicked vibration (thought a wheel was coming off!), was definitely suspension clunking feeling, which is odd since I just took the car to work the day before, so I need to put it up and check for loose bolt on it.

Oh... I found a F~ING Golf Tee in one of the EGR vacuum lines! umm... hooked it back up to the place it belongs to.
