removed the ghetto carpeting job that the previous owner did. I don't see any rust, but there is a lot of adhesive stuck on there... Any idea how to take it off?

 

brake cleaner? a lot of elbow grease? scotch brite pads? a chisel and a hammer...

are you going to leave the carpet out? if so i would sand it down and duplicolor it

 

plan on installing brand new carpet

 

find the biggest bottle of goo gone they sell and get at it.

Try Gasoline and some steel wool..... You'll be surprised this is your cheapest solution...

 

wouldnt worry too much about it if you are just gona throw carpet back over it..

true, but it smells kinda bad

 

If you are installing new carpet, who cares? Remove the big chunks and put the new carpet in. You won't even know there is glue underneath.
