Mugen Twinloop knock off
I'm in the market to get something that's quiet, now I can't afford the Mugen, but I know there are a couple companies that make a knock off of the Mugen, like Konig, Ractive etc... does anyone here have experience with these knock off products, if so can you please tell me what the performance and quality is like.
you get what you pay for......even though some may mimic mugen's design, the other companies "twin loops" might not do such a good job dampening the noise....who knows though. if you want a quite exhaust just get an apex WS. on another note DC sports came out with their own version of fugen exhaust as well.
It's quiet alright. I've had the axle-back for a while now and it's a quality made piece, just not sure about the power gains with it. I did dyno 146whp and 116lb*ft with the twinloop, USDM DC 4-2-1 SS header, and a K&N RU-3130.

Yah, I hear ya on that one. I damn near killed everybody in the dyno garage while making my runs.
It only does it after the IAB butterflies open. Probably also the reason my oil gets black after only 1000 miles and burn it off so quickly.
And, I'm not sure exactly who manufactured the muffler...I just know that I got it from Top Speed in Dallas. No relationship to Top Speed in Chicago or Top Speed in FL...I think.

I've seen the Konig exhausts and they're fine. Remember that an exhaust isn't very difficult to design. Muffler shops can custom make an exhaust w/ the same size tubing, mandrel-bends, stainless steel, and follow the same routing that performs just as well as any bolt-on w/ the same characteristics. There isn't anything radical in almost all of the bolt-on exhausts out there. If you're talking about one that goes straight to the back w/ no bends, now that's radically different, but every bolt-on follows the same routing w/ the same size tubing, etc. The lower priced brands just don't charge as much. When it comes to low R&D items like this, some of the additional costs is solely due to the name.

Well, first off, look at it, it is ovbious. The DC has 2 seperate canisters, and, eventhough I don't have any direct expierence, I have heard good things about it. I don't think DC is a company to go out and make any sort of "knock off," they make good products.
Yeah, its called the "Twin Canister System" and its no knock-off of the Mugen Twin Loop.
How do you figure it's not?

On the other topic, I am not a big fan of DC Sports products. Too many horror stories of corrosion on headers and exhaust systems. And some of their stuff is questionably designed. Crappy short shifters. Lower and upper tie bars with holes in them (I'm sure that does a whole lot for rigidity
). I guess it's all a matter of opinion.

You know what I did with my regular stainless DC exhaust? I cut off that rediclous tip, and painted the muffler black, left about 4 inches of the smaller tip, and left it polished. Sounds better, looks almost stock.

Yes, I guess that's true on the side of the looks. I went to the site and got a second look at the Mugen, I see what you mean.

so I guess that is why I have never heard of corrosion.-Andrew
