Default Suspension Question

First of all, let me start off by saying that my teg is not an ITR, but I figured you guys would know this better than the guys in the regular integra forum. The ITR is my dream car, but being a student, is unattainable right now. I have a 98 gs that is as close to an ITR as Im going to get. (A little bit faster, lots of itr parts, but still not an ITR). Here's a parts list

Engine/Trans:
B20b bottom end(re-sleeved) balanced
JE pistons (84.5) 11.1 comp
B18b Port n Polished Head Milled 15thous
Crower 403's/springs/ret
Fluidyne radiator
GSR Trans with ITR LSD
ACT street clutch
lighted flywheel
Energy Suspension Engine mounts
ITR AEM Cold air intake
AEM Fuel Rail/Regulator
AEM Cam Gears
Comptech Stainless 4-2-1
ITR Exhaust
ITR TB
Skunk2 Intake manifold
hondata s200

Suspension:
ITR Strut Tower
Comptech Swaybar/Tiebar
ITR H&R sports
Koni yellows
Omni power camber kit
ITR brake conversion with gunmetal ITR rims

Putting down 180whp and 142 ftq

My question is.... I only have about 3 inches of ground clearance on right now. I am thinking on selling my springs and putting in stock ITR springs and shocks to get some more height, but still be able to have a nice performing suspension. Will I be anywhere close to the legendary handling of a true ITR, or is the rest of my setup just too different??

Thanks for any advice.

Andy

an adjustable sleeve, and custom rate spring of your choice with yellows will actually put your spring/damper combo above ITR if properly matched to the car.

Overall the car setup sounds fairly mild, but well matched, and with a good springrate, rear biased rates, and koni yellows, you should be one happy camper.

I'd be one happy camper if its was an R, but this is a close second

Thanks for the help.

Just keep in mind that there's alot more going on on an ITR with respect to the way it handles. The suspension is one part of it, but the extensive modifications on the ITR shell plays a large part. This is why if you get an RS or LS, or even a GSR, slap some ITR suspension on it, and swap in a B18C5, the ITR will still destroy it on the track. Lighter weight in the right places and stiffer pillars, are just of few of the chassis mods on a type R. There is a diagram floating around somewhere with all the diffrences between an ITR and normal integra.

OP: I'd be willing to bet that if you were to throw some koni yellows and GC coilovers on with some custom rate springs, you'd have a very nice handling car. Unfortunately, I'd still put my money on a stock Type R in a track situation. You'd have some serious work to do if you want your car to behave the same way an ITR does in the twisties. They don't call it "the greatest front wheel drive car ever" for nothing.

The ITR is the daddy of integras, no doubt.

I was referring to strictly the spring/damper combo. For an out of the box, off the showroom floor setup, ITR is probably above 70% of cars made.

the chassis is what, 15% stiffer? That can SOMEWHAT be made up, but street application, it doesnt matter much anyway, as you can only use so much of what the car can do.

LoL. Werd.

My95SlvrBlt: I totally agree with you when it comes to street applications ... doesn't really matter who handles better in the corners on the street.

Here's a pic just to show you what I we're talking about here.

Told you guys I wanted an R. Is it obvious? LOL

Thanks again fella's. You've been a big help!!! I'd like to maybe try my hand at an autox race with a stock R and see how close I can keep it. And when I lose, we'll go over to the 1/4 and switch roles. LOL

In all seriousness though, for you guys, favourite part of the site
