What else different between GSR short block & ITR short block?
DID THE SEARCH! Beside these differeces: Stamp on block, pistons, rods, crank, stamp on oil pan, crank pulley, is there any other(s)??? Thanks.
98+ GS-Rs apparently no longer included the OEM oil cooler....which is a liquid to liquid exchange type.
Coolant is used to heat up and maintain oil temps.

I stand corrected.
I guess Honda or rather "Acura" decided they needed to cut costs EARLIER somewhere.
Not ITR related, but the '99/'00 Si/SiR (US/CAD) also did not have the factory oil cooler when they were present the last time the 16A made it to North America in the Del Sol.

Some good links for info:
this is an old one and probably hard to find now

You will have lower compression. Lower than stock GS-R and basically up to a full point lower than USDM ITR and a somewhat significant loss when compared with JDM.
You need higher compression pistons due to the ITR's combustion chamber being a larger volume than the GS-R head.
It would make more sense to replace the GS-R's dual stage manifold with a Blox unit than it would to swap in the R head.... you of course need the cams as well...so there's some mixing and matching etc.

Was not aware that the Oil Pan was Any Different. ..
I was told that the GSR Head actually has more to work with as far as for any kind of Porting that could be done... Of course I have heard mixed reviews on that subject I guess whatever floats your boat... But it makes sense that since the Type R Head has some Port work done already and the GSR head doesn't then you would have more options with the GSR head...
The Head would fit no problem... you should be more concerned about what you have to change in your CAR to get it to work...
IE throttle cable, adjust the Wiring harness, ECU, VTEC plug (usdm vs JDM) The Type R will have a few Less Sensors and Hoses to deal with than the USDM GSR.

crankshaft, rods, pistons, crank pulley, flywheel are all different.
Oil pan, oil pump, water pump, timing belt are the same.
