king motorsports??
I ordered a strut bar from them and the guy told me it would be in around 5 days.
I got it in 3! Oh how I love JDM goodness!
as for my experiences I like them seeing as they are reputable and right on when it comes to helping a man out.

King Motorsports is a supplier of parts as well as a full-blown race-tuning shop in Sullivan, WI. They do exceptional work, from what I have seen on my visits to their shop in the past...as well as from either driving and/or being inside some of their cars.
They did the work on Nick Wong's Mugen-ized S2K, as well as his R32 Skyline.

I had my suspension work done there in April 1999 for $~825.
H&R OEs.... $199
Tokico HPs.... $275
new rear LCAs (LCAs had to be sawed off...seized/rusted bolts) $150
5-6 hours of labor for all that BS.... $200
Good deal, maybe not the best but for taking care of the situation its decent.
In June 2001, they installed my ITR clutch (which I brought in), shaved my GS-R flywheel and added Motul clutch fluid all for ~$425. Again fair deal? I think so.
In October 2001, they installed Brembo OEs, new pads and Goodridge lines (again I brought all parts with me) and with brake bleeding came to ~$350 for 6 hours of labor. Fair deal? IMO, yes.
For someone like myself with limited tools for serious jobs like this, King provides great services. All other mods, except my cams and car gears were done by me, friends, etc. Not coming across angry, but just proving King has a well qualified staff with fair prices IMO.

I spent two days sitting in their show floor waiting on a car. They werent slow or anything but there was just no where to go in that town
Scott and Bob are great guys and the guys in the shop know what they are doing

I live about 30minutes away and I'm pretty good friends with everyone who works there.
They are not really a "tuner" shop... they are more like a race car shop. Don't expect much in terms of a show room or demo product, that's just not their gig.
King has been building sucessful Honda race cars and race programs for many years. They know what works, they know what lasts.
Overpriced? Not at all. As far as labor goes they are one of the best deals in town if you want something done timely and done correctly.
I've done thousands of dollars worth of business with King and I have always left satisfied.
They are the only people I trust with anything of mine.

They do good work that is for sure... But scott thinks he is Mugen GOD!! not much of a people person, really does not respect kids who stop by... I know of a lot of lost busness because of his attitude. Though I would get work done there no problem.
He only has an 'attitude' towards people who don't know what the **** is what. Don't get me wrong, I don't know you Nate, so I dunno what he told you or what you discussed with him/them, etc. I'm sure they get people coming in who want them to install a $75 POS axle-back muffler, so I suppose he's a little harsh to those kinda people.
Like Ausmith said, it's not some rice shop like everywhere else in WI, it's a race shop essentially. Go there with some common sense/common knowledge and you'll be treated fine.

I know what your saying MmmVTEC.. Occasionally I stop by a shop I get performance parts from, and some fugin idiot ricers come in not having a clue.. I find it humorous..
You paid $350 to have pads, rotors, lines installed? 6 hours??? 1 hour (maybe 2) job, max. A friend went to Brakestop to get the above mentioned installed for $50 on his GS-R.
If you go there with an open mind then you will not get much attitude.
King takes a "do it right and do it once" attitude. They have been known to turn work, or people, away that want them to do things half assed or on the "cheap".
Quite honestly I don't think they need to do half, or any, of the work they do on street cars.
I feel pretty lucky that they do take customer work into their shop - a lot of other race shops (i.e. Realtime) do not take on this type of work.
Summary - King Motorsport

Ok, I'd love to see you try removing (again) seized OEM 125k mile rotors, installing SS brake lines on all four corners, install new pads (sure, not tough, I have tools for that) and bleeding my brakes in one hour. Send me the video when you're done.
No doubt, I just did this job last week on my friends '93 LS... I'm not the quickest person in the world, but I have full air tools. 4 rotors and brake pads, not gonna do it (jacking the car up, stands, taking wheels off, etc) in under an hour. Replacing the lines, and fully bleeding the entire brake system. No Way. Minimum 3 hour job. Minimum. 6 hours, seems a little long. It took me 5 hours, but I put in new struts and Ground Controlls... All that for a case of beer... what a nice guy huh?
I think if your running any type of buisness, having professional courtesy is the number 1 priority, it doesnt matter how uninformed the customer is, im sure if they customer knew everything they wouldnt need the services of the his shop.
I am sure if u were shopping for something, and you wouldnt appreciate the salesperson giving u "attitude" because he knew more then you!?

If you guys are complaining about the price you need to understand about King maintaining pricing integrity...
King functions as 2 different types of businesses with regards to Mugen parts:
1. Importer/Distributor - makes $$$ selling to retailers
2. Retailer/Installation shop - makes $$$ selling to people like us
In example 1 this is their main source of money from Mugen parts, as they are making money from the importation and distribution of the parts...they are already making a margin, most likely ~20%.
In example 2 they are still making money, but it's not their main source of income...they have to retain their Suggested Retail Price less they force their retailers to cut their margins(guessing at ~12%), which would be cause for most retailers to stop selling their parts as they would no longer be competitive in the market place, and the trouble of dealing with the parts wouldn't be worth their time and money. This would force King to lose product distribution, which would in turn reduce their overall products - loss of revenue.
My suggestion is that if you were looking to purchase Mugen products I would purchase them from your knowledgeable retailer i.e. IPS Racing or R & D Motorsports, as you will get the product that you were looking for, you support the retailer and they make their money, and King Motorsports makes less money...support your retailers.

p.s. working as a Sales and Marketing company forces you to look at things a little differently.
