Default Help my friend and I diagnose!

car is a EM1 with LS/VTEC, fully built and turbo.

Car was running fine, no problems. Parked the car at home, turned it off, and the next day my friend tried to start it and it wouldn't start.

We tried a new ECU, new hondata, new dizzy. The car does not get spark still.

Anyone have any idea as to what we can try next?

Thanks in advance!!!

Nothing... just turns and turns and turns, and never catches.

We checked spark by holding a plug to the valve cover while cranking.

Also new plugs and wires... still no go

What else can we check?

coil..check it

also do you have a msd set-up on the car?

if so you can:

remove the coil wire from the dizzy cap and set it about a 1/2" from a good ground (painted metal will not be best at all. use bare metal if possible or even a ground wire for the motor)

disconnect your white wire or cut it. turn the ign to the on position

tap the white wire to groud and you will know for sure if the ign box is working correctly.

if there is no spark when you do this:

swap your coil for another..if you have spark now your coil is the culprit

if still no spark after you swap coils check for 12v at the red wire coming from the msd box. make sure it is hooked up to a good 12v source.

if the wiring and all is good and you have no 12v on the red then you need to replace the msd box.

**** like this happens. electronic devices go bad with out warning sometimes..its just the nature of the beast. good luck with troubleshooting and update us when you find the problem.

Tried that... new coil and everything... even new dizzy... still no spark... can it be the crank angle sensor?? I wish it was easier to reach!

Check all your grounding points on the engine. If it is not getting a good ground it may cause your problem.
Usually though your starter wouldn't kick if it wasn't grounded good but you may not be getting strong enough spark power from lack of good ground.
