Brake Pads
I am planning on putting in a set of Carbotech Panther + brake pads in the front of my ITR for an upcoming lapping session at Sebring. I am concerned about them eating my rotors. The rotors are in good condition right now and i dont want an event to just warp them.
I read on carbotech's website that they are very "rotor friendly" and what not. I just want to hear what other people's opinions are. I plan on taking the pads out after the event and only using them for events every few months or so. Would this pose a problem switching pads back and forth every few months? BTW, i will be using Valvoline Synthetic brake fluid year around now.

P+ pads
I switch between street pads and the P+ and I haven't had any problems at all. Hard for me to tell if they are rotor friendly or not, as my rotors weren't exactly in great shape before I first used the P+. In any case, they don't seem to have made my rotors any worse.

i run hawk blues at events and haven't warped my track rotors yet and the carbotech's are suppossed to be way friendlier
here are couple of things to do that'll help:
1) bed the pads in a day or so before hand- do 4-6 stops from like 40-60 mph down to 20 and then about 2-3 60-80 mph stops down to 20 then drive for about a mile using your brakes as little as possible and then park it
2) at teh event after each session use your cool down lap and then drive around slowly in the paddock for a while to help cool the rotors.
most issues of brake warpage i've seen/heard of was due to these two things

panther+'s are very rotor friendly.......i've had them for around 4 months now and been through a weekend track event and a autox and they are perfect.. rotors still look good. No problems i give them a

i got brembo blanks from http://www.collettimotorsports.com they were about $30 each + $15-20 shipping.
yeah i wanna know that too. OEM rotors or aftermarket? I am indeed going to have a set of spare rotors for the track event

i think brembos are copies of the OEM's
they're both basically the same and both will do their job just fine- but the brembos are a lot cheaper than OEMs.
oh yeah- i know willard gets autozone rotors instead of brembos- they're even cheaper and no shipping- just a FYI

those of you that are using those pads, are you guys running the stock rotors or aftermarket?

Brembo's.
The stock rotors are made of low grade metals and are prone to warping. The Brembo's are made of better quality materials, believe it or not. (This is what a local race shop told me. I'll have better first hand knowledge after I try to warp my stockers on the 20th.)

BS from your local shop, ask them if they road race? anyway, check the competition forum. us budget track racers use... autozone rotors. $22 ea. for 10.3" and like $25 for ITR ones. works just fine.
rotors warp if you don't cool 'em down properly and park too soon. based on my experience, fancy drilled/slotted, powerslots, brembo, stock, autozone, all work about the same. autozone is just way cheaper.
i do agree drilled/slotted is pleasing on the eyes, but functionally with today's advanced pad materials they don't do that much.

Your personal experiance is nice to hear.
OEM rotors are just as good as Brembo OE replacement, and vice-versa. Brembo OE replacements, for the most part, are actually finished in Mexico, not Italy.
And Frank is correct...rotor warpage occurs from uneven cooling and/or improperly torqued lug nuts on one-piece rotors, and not from pad compound selection.

fwiw - I just pulled the oem rotors off after 85,500 miles (~20k w/stock pads + 65k w/HP+ hawks) Never turned them & never warped. I ran several solo's & 5 Track Days.
VERY pleased with the Brembo blank. Fit & finish is great. They went right on & Collettimotorsports.com is where I got them. I'll be buying the back rotors once Brembo gets them made
Heat your pads/rotors up slow & cool them down & you'll never have any warpage problem.....I think my mileage helps show that!
