just swapped jdm b16. have some codes need help with.
i swapped a jdm b16 in my 97 dx hatch. im using a chipped pr3 i believe. its the b17 ecu. but anyways, im throwing 5 codes. obviously the ecu is chipped for no knock sensor, because it is broken.
4 CKP - crank position sensor
10 IAT - intake air temperature sensor
14 IAC (EACV) - idle air control valve
15 Ignition output signal
22 VTEC pressure valve
i thought OBD1 motors didnt need a crank position sensor. as far as the other sensors, is there anyway to clean them and plug them back in. the motor was sitting for like 8 months.
obviously code 22 is keeping vtec from engaging, but if i find that bug, will vtec engage, or will the other codes stop it as well?
thank you, matt.

ha... everything is plugged in right. i know waht your talking about though. the TPS and ummm i forget both have the same plugs. but as far as ecu's go... any b series vtec ecu should run it fine. idk, i found out that the jdm b16 seems to throw code 15 alot and its directly related to code 22. can someone clear that up?
I would just use a p30 if I were you. When my swap was first done, the shop I got it from gave me a p72, and it ran pretty bad, even though the differences are somewhat minor. When I confronted them about the ecu, and they gave me the p30, most of the problems went away.
I have thrown a code 22 before, and I never got a code 15. Also, the p72 I had was for a GSR, and that gave me more problems that the p30 did, so I definitely wouldn't say that all b-series vtec ecu's should run the same. Because all of them have different fuel maps as well as fuel cut-off's and vtec engagement points.
Lastly, I know for sure that the iacv can be disconnected and cleaned with brake cleaner if needed.

Honestly, I was throwing a bunch of codes with the p72, and as soon as I switched to the p30, they all went away. Could have just been my experience, but that is what happened to me.

are you sure? maybe you've haven't spent to much time around a jdm b16 then.

i just finished the same swap into an eg hatch yesterday and i have the same code 15. it the only code i have but it is still a code. anyone have any ideas? im running a p28 with a p30 map run through my moates ostrich. i have checked that everything is plugged in and unless i am just missing something even after looking at it 20 times. im sure everything is plugged in and is right.
