Default Steering colum issue.

I just picked up a 93 Hatchback on saturday. On the way home I noticed a problem with the steering rack. It feels like its very loose. You can feel it when you hit a bump in the road. I checked both the mounting points were the steering rack is held to the subframe and both the bolts are tight.
Any sugestions??? I'm thinking that the joints in the steering linkage might be worn out from old age. I may just replace the whole steering rack and colum.

*Generally* it would be something in the rack or tie rods, not the column. Before going through a bunch of things, I would try to inspect the tie rods and see if possibly that and an alignment might solve the issue.

That's what I was thinking. A tie rod or a ball joint. I'm gonna get under there and inspect it today.

What the hell would it have to do with the electrical system????

Sometimes, your wires can get all tangled up. This causes some knocking. Its a whole big ordeal, happened in my EF.

You are entirely wrong. THere is no way that any electrical issue would cause my steering to become loose. Don't offer any advice if you don't know what your talking about.

It is the tie-rod ends. I'm gonna get some new ones from the autoparts store today.

Thanks for the help guys.

if i have to explain to your elementary level of honda knowledge about the wires getting tangled up, i dont think that you will be able to fix it anyway. this is a major problem and has happened to many hondas i have seen and have fixed myself. also if you knew it was the tie rod ends why are you asking a question on honda tech about it have fun changing your tie rod ends and wasting money for no reason.

Neptune is awesome as long as your tunner who's what he is doing. I have jeff evans less than an hour away so I don't have to worry about getting a jacked up tune. He's probably the best neptune tunner in the country.

The only bad thing about neptune is that it's not user controlable. You cant adjust the settings your self after it's tunned with just a laptop.

lmao

Well I'm one of the stupid ones you mentioned that doesn't know anything about Hondas, so enlighten me.

Enlighten me about how wires being "tangled up" can result in anything that would make the steering feel LOOSE and or BROKEN in a 92 hatchback.

Please enlighten me, I must be missing something.

At OP:
After you toss this ******* asside check your tie rod ends, c what's up with them.

1st, why would you actually admit the fact that your stupid and dont know anything about hondas??? 2nd. anyone with a fragment of a brain would know that the tangled up wire problem is a joke...chill. 3rd--Turbotagteam said he has a 93 hatch, not a 92...i know theyre the same thing, but maybe you should read the thread a little better before posting your nonsense.

By the way, whats up with the nuclear symbol??? Are you radio active or something?

Ok dude, how is it that i know nothing when your the one asking everyone what a knock is coming from your steering rack...Why didnt you just get under your car and figure it out, or are you just one of "those guys" that love the attention from others, so you can get your dick hard. Also, you never answered my question. What was your civic tuned with? I know you were tuned if your claiming 220whp, which i can almost promise is complete bullshit. BTW, Face it, you bought a sled if your having problems on the way home from buying the car...Do you now realize how much of an idiot you ARE??

The civic is my daily driver you ******* tool. I couldn't give a **** about it. I was 2000$ for it. I paid twice that much just for the exhaust system on my FD.

This is my real car

My civic was tunned on DSM injectors and my own tune using a V-AFC. I was still in high school so I couldn't afford to get it properly dyno tunned.

Now get the expletive out of my thread.

Thats funny i could of swore i was that same car in the appearence/cosmetic forum a few weeks ago about how it got stolen and you were picking up the hatch, so apparently its not just your daily driver its your only driver. also i would like to know what kind of exhaust you had on your FD that was 4 grand . If you tuned your civic yourself and didnt get it dyno tuned how do you know it has 220hp like your sig says. thats what i thought, absolute bullshit. im even doubting your FD had 436 hp.
