Default Upgrading d16?

My backyard is starting to look somewhat like a junk yard. I have a 92 civic lx, with a good motor but the frame is bent, a 1992 civic ex with a good motor but an AT and no interior wiring and a 94 civic ex that is my daily driver. In the spring and the summer occasionaly I go to an autocross met and I want to put a little more power under the hood then the stock d16 Im running right now, but Ide also like to keep the car reasonable to drive on a daily basis. Ive heard alot about swaping out the d16 for a b16 for more power but I'de rather just use the motor I have now. Can you get 250whp out of the d16 with out going with a forced induction or would turbo be the best way to go?? And if so wheres a good place to start? Any sugestions would be greatly appericated

do a search on here and you will find a lot of information on different setups for d16's, or you can also go to turbod16.com. as for squeezing out 250whp from a d16, you're looking into forced induction with some build up to be safe. But even in stock form with a good tune, you can probably push 220whp with your d16. just don't skimp out on tuning. but as for 250whp without FI, i would say that won't happen, but maybe someone else will come in that can prove otherwise for you.

250 is reachable on a d series, but would prob cost about 10x as much as it would to get that from a B, there are butloads of topics on this, just search, its your best friend!

A fairly small turbo would be the best way to get to 250whp on a D series, especially if you want to auto-x it.

Big turbos make more power, but there's more lag. Small turbo- faster response.

I don't know if you can make 250whp on a SOHC without FI or dumping wads of cash into it.

I'd personally go with a little turbo & have it tuned.
