some lo jack questions
thinking bout getting the lo jack but wasn't sure bout some things,
1. lo jack don't know your car is stolen until you report it right? so if im asleep and somebody stole my car but i didn't know til morning time, my car would probably be striped already
2. they say they cover your car 100% so if it did get stolen and not recovered in time do you get 2 payout, one from lo jack and one from your insurance
3. do they cover your aftermarket parts? and do the price go up by what you add on
4. what if someone just steal my wheels or seats etc. do they cover that too

It depends on which Lojack system you get. From their website:
"LoJack products include the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System which allows police to track and recover your vehicle after you report it stolen, and the LoJack Early Warning Recovery System which is an additional layer of protection on top of LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System. Early Warning automatically contacts you if your car has been moved without your permission."

In the event of theft, Lojack only pays you for the cost of the Lojack, not for the cost of your car or anything else on it.

Again, that's a question for your insurance company, and has nothing to do with Lojack.

i agree.
if you do get it do the home installation, so youcan see how long the install takes.. ive had 4 lojack installs all took around 30 minutes... what a suprise all easily excessible by me.
installation and placement of lojack is key.

There are better things out there. Do NOT get lojack. My car took 4 days to find with lojack on it and my car was stripped to $hit.
Get a gps alarm that you can track yourself instead. Lojack cannot "find" your car for you. A police car with lojack equipment must be within one mile radius to get a beacon on your car....and if they have anything better to do (homicide/burglary/donuts) then you are **** out of luck til they feel they can spend some time looking for your car.

I don't know. It has helped some people but not others. And it's pretty expensive.

That's the way Geico is. They're notorious for cancelling policies for trivial things, like if they find out that you own a radar detector. Geico sucks. Get a different insurance company.

Even though it's not trackable like a GPS alarm or lojack the Clifford Blackjax is sweet in my book. Entering a PIN everytime a door opens just to drive the car away is kind of annoying but you do it subconciously after awhile. I'm kind of scared of it shorting out though.

if you are paranoid then don't leave it unattended when you drive. that is a sacrifice you must make to secure the safety of your R. also park it in your garage at night and use another car to block the driveway. if you have full coverage insurance, then don't worry.
honestly there is nothing out there that can prevent a thief from getting what he wants. the only thing you can do is to use common sense and not put your car in a position where it can be stolen. If I take my ITR out I never leave it unattended. I take a friend with me if I have to get something and ask him to wait in the car. If I go somewhere where I know I will be a long time, I don't take the R. It's that simple.
If the R is your daily driver, just make sure you have full coverage and stop worrying because it won't help you. If a theif really wants it he will get it. That is the risk we all take by driving an ITR.

I was looking into hiding the Verizon Migo with Verizon Chaperone to track my car
for 15-20 a month it might be worth it.

It's a good mindset, however having a proactive approach on security is also good. But this has been debated too much.

I agree that we should have a proactive approach to security, believe me. I just stated that I don't leave my ITR unattended. If you are talking along the lines of a good alarm, autolock, or club perhaps....I have those too. However, I am not afraid to admit that those will only stall a thief from taking my car. It will not prevent him from taking it if he really wants it. He could tow it for all I know.

Viper GPS you pay a monthly fee for using the GPS system. You can buy block amounts of time you can use the system to "check it out".
Lojack, one time fee.
If you had to get one, I'd get the Lo-jack with Early Warning first. At least in theory you should know when your car is moving.
Viper GPS I hear you can set up a Geo fence as well so once it gets out that perimeter, it will call to your cell. If they pull your battery, that alarm will go off as well.
Clifford Black Jax is great to have as well. It reminds me of the movie "The Transporter" when Frank Martin (the BMW driver) pushes ignition codes before starting the car

i have lojack on my rsx-s. it was about 600 at the dealer out the door and it took about 15-20 min for install. basically yeah lo-jack doesnt know ur car is stolen tell a report has been made. i usually dont go anywere without seeing my car for at least 3 hours anyways. car is garage kept. Within those 3 hours is the most vital i would say. if ur car is stolen u woudl call them they find ur car, they catch the theives most likely in the work of stripping or taking it to were it can be stripped. So you catch the theives and get ur car back. all in all its just a lil bit more peace of mind for my baby. also the insurance rates go down about 15%-30% on comprehensive. iuf u have the cash i would get it.
i suggest mobileguardian... gps tracking, realtime updates accessible through a web portal, remote ignition kill, paging feature, remote lock/unlock
heres the website for more detailed information http://www.mymobileguardian.co...t.asp
a friend of mine sells these at his dealership, i would DEFINITATELY look into purchasing one for myself... iirc you only pay for lookups, no subscription charge
