Default helping the intake breath better?

i had an idea to help my Injen CAI receive cooler air by removing the drivers side fog light housing and making it some kind of lock to where i could snap it back on when not racing so it doesnt just suck dirt and bugs and crap to the filter. has anyone else done this or know of anyone that did. did it actually work or would it just be a waste of time and effort? opinions are appreciated. lemme know

Sounds like a good idea if you are racing, but I haven't done it to mine yet. Like you said, I wouldn't do it for daily driving.

I did remove the fog cover from my car after installing the AEM CAI, my idea was to put some body kit mesh or screen behind the whole to cut down on bugs and dirt ive just been to lazy to actually do it yet.
Plus I love when people come up to me and ask me why I have a hole in that one and not the other. Kinna like the old grand nationals and stuff with the missing driver side headlight lol!

if your filter is as good as aem's dry flow filter then you would of not worry about temp levels cuz the dryflow filter resists a tremondous amount of heat before it affects performace , and other aem cai members might know what i mean , but sure it doesnt hurt to try..

honestly, it sounds like an ok idea and that it might work, but i dont think that i would do it. I dont feel that it will make that much of a difference and you are more at risk of sucking something harmful into it. But once again, only an opinion, if it does happen to work out and does make it run better let me know.

I DONNO FOR SURE I DO KNOW THE SOUND CHANGED IT SEEMS TO BE MAKING A DEEPER LOUDER SOUND NOW WHICH WOULD LEAVE ME TO BELIEVE ITS ABLE GET MORE AIR THIS WAY, OR THAT THE AIR IT IS GETTING IS COOLER COMING STRAIGHT IN RATHER THAN COMING THROUGH THE LOWER GRILLE AREA WHICH WOULD BE SOMEWHAT WARMED BY THE RADIATOR.
