A search of the threads only yielded electrical issues related to the ignition switch but nothing mechanical.

For quite a while, when I first insert the key, I am not able to physically turn the switch to start the car. It's as if the steering wheel is locked, but it isn't. Even with the steering wheel loose and all, I have to fight with the switch before I can turn the switch.

Could there be a problem with the tumbler in the ignition switch which?

Any suggestions would help, thanks.

 

yea the tumbler isnt fully releasing the cylinder to turn....maybe go in there and clean it out if you know what youre doing....or you could just gte a new one....

actually there is a Factory Service Recall in the Ignition for the 5th gen.
