I put all my stuff together for my new built SOHC vtec, the clutch wouldn't let me in gear with the car running. I'd have to turn it off to put it in gear, and when I start it, it tries to move with the pedal depressed. Its partially disengaged. In a massive hurry, I threw every part at it. I got a new exedy lightweight flywheel, new exedy clutch, new slave cylinder, and new master cylinder. Just got it back together, and SAME THING! expletive! Help me please!

 

Ok well it could be a couple things. Make sure the clutch is fully blead. Also make sure you put the release bearing in correctly. If the clutch is blead all the way, you're gooing to have to rip it apart again and check it all out.

 

I will try bleeding again, but i bleed and bleed it already. There is only one way the throw out bearing goes really.

 

Well I have actually had to fix two trannys where the owner actually put the bearing in backwards. It had the same symptoms you're having and the clucth was obliverated.

 

is there a photo of how it goes anywhere?

How does the pressure feel on the clutch? If it doesn't feel normal, It could either be the pressure plate or air in the lines. Try to gravity bleed the clutch.

Ok this is kinda ghetto, but I have done it in the past when I couldn't figure this **** out. Take a nut (like a "nut" and bolt) and put it between the slave cylinder, and the clutch release lever. This will push the lever further than normal. See if that works. And don't worry, it won't hurt anything.

 

i just finished swapping my tranny and new clutch on to my y8...dude...i guess i put the bearings wrong or something with the clutch wasn't right...took my uncles and i 2 rounds to finish it....then drove 4 hours back home haha...can't help bro but good luck...

i messed with the slave (using the "extension" method to get it longer to see if it helps (I actually swapped the rod out with a craftsman 3/8 3" extension, which is just a smidge longer then the rob. It was better, but still hard to get in gear. I rebleed it a bunch, and it got a bit better. I adjusted the pedal allll the way out, and put the rod back in, and it would go into gear, but it was a bit difficult. I took it around the block, and by the time o got back, its perfect. slips right into gear perfectly, like it should be. I just have to pull the slave apart once more to get those boots back on.

Your slave cylinder or master cylinder are bad, replace both anyways.

I bet if you sit there and pump you clutch a bunch of times, then you car will shift into gear pretty easily.

I will also bet this is an EK civic. It is about time for these years cars to start having this problem. Actually, this is the third post in about a week that I said all this and I have been right every single time.

A worse case scenario for you is one time I had a flywheel bolt back out on me and it would not let me shift the car while it was on, only off.

I will bet it is your master cylinder.

First off read first please. He has new Master Cylinder and stuff.

Also I just finished a B16 build with LSD tranny. New clutch and a bunch of stuff. Same problem and nothing fixin.

I reversed it out of the driveway and was going to tow it with a truck in 3rd gear to see if maybe had a little rust holding.
reversed up a little hill rolled down with clutch in. repeat about 5 or 6 times. Then try your gears while running. A little better ok now try to get it in first even if you have to shut it off. Make sure someone you know can tow your *** back just in case and drive the car if your gears feel a little better.

This is what I did and within 3 miles going from stuck clutch exactly like your stating to shifting at 8000 rpm through 3rd gear. I don't have much need for 4th or 5th yet but they are functional.

I believe in a firm break-in period as I will be racing this car at the strip every chance I get til it blows. Then rebuild again.

Also, if he bought a master cyl from vatozone, what makes you think that it is still not the problem? Vatozone **** sucks ***. I would never buy a distributor from there for example, NEVER!!

I personally would NOT try what sauceja wrote but instead try to really figure out whats wrong first, his way seems like you could expletive up a lot more than fix.

But hey, its your car, you do whatever you want to it.

 

Yep no complaints here. Do what you want but I have had no issues with my clutch or tranny since doing what I did. I talked to an older guy from work that had to do this to an older car after installing a new clutch so I figured what the hell. I would rather try this than taking three hours to remove tranny inspect and reinstall tranny.

Thats right I said it would take me 3 hours to remove and reinstall. But I have my car setup so I don't have to remove my clutch line so no need to bleed every time I take my slave off.

Whatever.

I have the same problem with my b16. Clutch used to work fine nad one day stopped. I bought new stage 1 exedy but gears still wont engage.
