I've welded a crack on a manifold almost identical to that one. The busted part was bent towards the head and after welding it warped it back just enough to flatten it out. I think we got lucky on that repair.
Not to change the subject but I was going to weld a -an fitting to a thermostat housing but I was told that it couldnt be done due to the colant penetrating the metal would make the weld nasty I know someone here can clear this up with the noob

Can't hurt to try. I would run a few passes with no filler and grind the crap that floats to the top of the puddle. Then weld it. It can't be much worse than trying to weld through AL that's been soaked in oil for 20 years.

Updated with pics, Ive taken it down to a machine shop and they say. Even if they weld it and milled it, its not gauranteed to work cause i have to torque it down again. as he was fiddlign with it. IT BROKE off, and when we looked inside the layer. He was saying It was made out of Metal Puddy or something so there is no way for it to be welded.

I would find a new machine shop, I'm almost positive that can be welded just fine.

Thats alright, i just bought one from a fellow H-T member today. i just want to get my car on the road. I noticed how much room i have when the manifold was out. So i just went ahead and spray painted the walls of the engine bay black came out nice. Thanks for the input
