Honda Civic Si
Hey I'm 16 and I'm getting a Honda Civic Si Hatch for my first car and I love the whole deal about tuning cars. But I dont want it super fast. I'm okay with quick. I just dont want it to the point where its too fast for me to control seeing as I dont have much driving experience but one or two things are okay.
Basically, I'm asking, what can I put into my car to make it ride better, make it sound better, the engine look better, without having to make it go 200+?
I also love the sound of turbochargers, would that make it too hard to control? I don't know much about cars but my dad worked on cars all his life and he basically knows everything but right now I want someone elses opinions seeing as how he thinks I'm going to try to supe it up and street race it.

you want it to ride better? get suspension
sound better? sound system
engine look better? swap that sucker
what year si do you have? seeing as how you're still a noob with cars, a turbo would be well over your head.

Start with the basics. Pick up some 15" OEM wheels for cheap (Blades/ meshies/ fat fives). Throw some decent summer 195/50/15 tires on it. Lowering the car with quality shocks/springs as well as a rear sway bar will help cornering. A D16z6 ( assuming this is a 92-95) will be fast enough for you stock. I/H/E won't make much of a difference, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
well if u want some nice sounds and heart stopping bass literaly my brother had a stroke ill sell u my sytem for 600 bucks and as for everything else please dont be afraid to hit that buetiful red search button

wish i got a 2002-2005ish Si when I was 16
I think that would be pretty quick for you already. Just go with some wheels and a good shocks/springs setup.

Please do not listen to thse power hungry psychos.
Leave it stock. I can almost guaratnee it'll have enough hp - it's a pretty quick car regardless of how you split it (and regardless of what year).
Put a catback exhaust system or an e-bay fart can if you want it to rumble nicely. Put a cold air intake on it (very cheap, but if you live in an area with lots of rain I recommend you go with a short ram cold air intake opposed to a full fender located intake). Then put a header on it. All of this stuff can be bought cheap if you look around - you don't neccessarily need AEM CAI's and such...
That'll probably give you 5-10whp (tops) which is a lot if you consider they're basic bolt-ons. Don't go turbo, dont' swap out teh engine, COMPLETELY uneccessary for your application (which is a daily driver I'm assuming). You can PM me if you want details but a turbo is completely NOT neccessary. A Civic Si with basic I/H/E is a good car to learn out, even stock it's fine, pretty snappy cars due to their weight and you can learn to control them pretty quickly.
Bro, I was a 16 year old once too (as most of the people here would claim they were never inexperienced drivers) so I know exactly where your'e coming from. I can tell you exacts about what to set up if you just drop me a PM (have to wait a few until you go off trial but if you don't want to you can send me an e-mail and I'd be more than happy to go over a setup with you with what you have.

I'm all up to help people, especially new drivers.
So drop me a line.

Word, lower the Si and keep to stock wheels. OEM look = Clean.
Maybe get CAI and a header. Leave the exhaust alone, loud exhausts drive me nuts on my car and others. To get a good, quality, quiet exhaust you're looking at RSR or Apexi, both $400+
That's what I'd do.

you got those miniature van hatches with the stickshift on the wall? jk im 16 too but I got a 2000 civic si. I say just keep the car clean and whatever you feel you want bad enough such as wheels or an exhaust get it. Do whatever you think will make your car look good not by what other people think looks good.

Please do not ruin your car with an eBay fart can. Get a quality exhaust. If you cant afford it, leave it stock.
Get some decent springs, again not the $2 eBay ones. Also, you will need some struts, a nice big sway bar for the suspension.
For intake, get a cheap eBay one with a k & n filter, piping is piping unless you are in cali, a nice 4-1 header, and a nice exhaust, apexi is a good choice.
Lastly, do tons of research

Thx but I'll stick by what I said. I know everybody here is like 'expletive EBAY, EBAY MUST DIE!' - but that's a load of horse ****. You have no idea how many replica tips I've installed that people have brought me after buying them from ebay (b/c you need a reducer pipe and it needs to be welded because they never buy axle backs) and they sound just as good as the real thing. I installed an N1 replica muffler tip onto a 94Si/Ex/Dx (some coupe) and it sounded the same as my real N1 catback. So would he get power out of it? Absolutely not. Will the sound FX be the same? Yeah.

well if ur getting into racing and ur parents are there with there wallet openn u should get what u can while u can if u can get a swap do it cause if ur racing and parents dont like it theyll be planning by kicking u out 17 late 18 so clean em out dry wish i could
Do us all a favor and keep the stock engine. A dohc si engine with low miles has no need to be replaced. Build on it. Don't listen when people tell you to swap a car with under 80K miles. Drive it as a functional car first. Mod it when you are comfortable driving. If I were you, don't invest parts until 6 months after driving.
And like always, Keep it on the track. Street racing is the key ingredient in weaksauce.
