How to Instal a 99-00 Civic SI CD player into a 96-98 Civic EX. Help Please.
I just picked up a 99-00 SI CD player because my car was recently broken into and both passenger side windows were busted out and my dash torn up, all because someone wanted my 20.00 AIWA CD player.
I'm looking for someone that has put a 99-00 Civic SI CD player into a 96-98 Civic.
ANY and ALL help would be appreciated.
Also, the jackass I bought my car off, cut the stock harness so the 96-98 plug is non existant anymore.
Can I just go to Circuit City or some audio store and pick up a jumper harness for a 99-00 Civic SI and match colors or what?
thanks in advance.

It can be made to work, however some mods are needed, the 99-00 uses an "ISO" mounting system, [2 8mm ISO machine screws through a bracket into each side of the HU], your 96-98 HU used a rear mount system, [2 8mm ISO machine screws through a rear support bracket into a "lip" on the back of the HU.
Also if you look at this link... http://www.installdr.com/Insta....html you can see that the face of the 99-00 and 96-98 are shaped a little different, this kit should fix that... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...1570B
although it is only a trim, it will cover the holes in the small pocket and the angle on the left, it is not needed for mounting the 99-00 HU.
You will have to mod something up to hold the HU in place.
The plugs are also different on the two HUs, but that can be dealt with by getting one of these... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...A08RB for the 99-00 HU and one of these to plug into the car... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...HA02B connect the two together and you have the adapter you need.
