Default Question about LSD and Cable B16 Tranny...

Ok I have a B16 Cable tranny that I want to put LSD in. I dont want any of that Phantom SLIP Crap. My question is... I found a ITR Helical LSD and I want to know if I can put this in my current tranny? Or would I need to pick up a CTR one? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Oh ya and before anyone says it, I dont want a POS OBX junk and I cant afford a Quaife. So Im tryin to stick with OEM LSDs.

Can anyone varify this? And if this is true, can anyone link me to instructions on a "How-To"? Thanks.

alright to reply to that helpful post, we are not wanting to do a full cable to hydralic swap, we are just wanting to use his stock 88-91 ob0 cable tranny, and put a lsd into it. We need to know what we need, such as a ITR LSD, or CTR LSD, or is there any difference between the two. And what else is we need to be able to put a ITR, or CTR LSD into a stock 88-91 b16 cable tranny.
thanks again..

Ya were from the springs. What is the tranny code for the Cable B16 LSD tranny? Y1 or YS1? I believe I have an S1 tranny, just a normal Cable B16 non LSD. I can't use any LSD's with this tranny without any modifications?

Not true man! It's been doen many times. Don't you know that cable tranny's in 92-93 Integra's are like spline style just like the newer hydro uints. We did one in a YS1 last month!

As far as cable lsd tranny's, the are 2:

1987-89 Y1 -small spline
91-93 YS1- large spline

Quaiffe sells lsd for all honda b series tranny's btw

Who told you that! They may not work as well as a clutch type in every situation but they are a HUGE improvement over an open diff. They are an excellent compromise for a dd/track/autoxer. I have one in my S1 cable tranny and absolutely love it!

For the OP, Ive seen a few used b16 quaiffe's on here recently for good prices. That is probably your best bet. Oh, and all b16 tranny's hydro and cable use the same part# quaiffe.

No man, only and only the type r tranny came with lsd in north america, thats it!!
Also, the LS tranny is long geared, not good for B16, plus you'll fall out of vtec every time you shift.
You want only the 92-93 GSR Ys1, if you can find one. No, it doen't have LSD either. Maybe 1 out of 15 jdm model YS1's even had the option of lsd
