The dude just clearly said his mind wanders when he reads, which is why he still isn't welding.....everyone comes along suggesting books to buy...LOL.

I saw a video on amazon.com bro.....search tig and tig weld in dvd section...it should come up.

Both books are very visual. They have a lot of tables, pictures and diagrams, about 2 or 3 per page. I think he will be fine reading those.

Dude, I was in the same situation. Get a correct setting on there, and WELD AWAY! Mess around with it, and see what function do what. Move fast, Move slow, Less heat, more heat. Blow a hole through some thin stainless/mild/aluminum. Just get the feel for it first.

or you can go to a local welding shop. Those guys are more then happy to tell you how **** works. I went in to buy some filler the first time i was going to use my tig and he was showing me the thermal arc 185 and all the features. A quick 2 min trip turned into a freakin hour. . But the guy was pretty knowledgable. Wasn't trying to sell me anything. Just spitting information like crazy

Yeah welding can be frightful, but FUN ****!

I just signed up for a welding class this past week, and had my first class yesterday. It's a 3 hour class once a week for 12 weeks (12 sessions)

It's Welding 1, and obviously the prerequisite for Welding 2. For Welding 1 we are just learning more stick welding, and oxy/fuel cutting. Welding 2 is mig/tig work.

Although I hope to be able to get better at mig/tig while I'm still taking the Welding 1 course. I really want to start making some sick downpipe's, charge piping, etc.

I paid about $200 bucks, they give you a new shield, and gloves, also book. I think that 200 bucks is a steal!
