Default purpose of fog light

if only the fog lights are on, are u suppose to see anything or can u only use them to see better during fog/rain situation? I just installed my fogs and i cant see anything with them on only at night. Thanks

from what i read. It's not for you to see better, but its so that other people driving in the fog, they can see you better.

lol, i know what there sole purpose is, but it was a custom install and i just wanted to make sure that i didnt mess it up. I know that fog lights are used in a foggy situation b/c it cuts through the fog and doesnt reflect like driving lights, u can see enough in the fog to stay in your lane and so the on coming car can see u.

The purpose of foglights is to:

provide a certain beam that will penetrate through fog, rather than bounce back like your headlights do. Notice that when you flash your highbeam, it only intensifies the fog. Certain colors of lights also play a factor. Yellow is very usefull for penetrating fog.

foglights may also provide you with a more wider beam which is more usefull on dark country roads. I positioned my foglights slightly outwards to give me an even more wider beam.

I have 8000k HIDs and the blue cuts right through the fog no problems at all, I don't even need foglights tell you the truth. The only reason why I have fogs is for a more wider beam on dark country roads. I have a cheap aftermarket foglight kit, upgraded the bulbs from 55w to 100W, upgraded the wiring and added a relay of coarse.

With the 55w bulbs forget about seeing anything with only the foglights on, with the 100w bulbs I don't even need the headlights on in the city.

They shouldn't be used by themselves, but in conjunction with your headlights to improve visibility in poor weather conditions.

That's what a rear mounted fog light is for.

I dont know, but the fogs on my eg hardly helps with visibility too.

With other cars like our suv and van i can survive driving at night with just the foglights on

Dude wtf were you thinking? Why didn't you buy oem ones from
http://www.Handa-accessories.com? I have oem projector stanley fogs and they work AMAZING. They actually light up the road way brighter at night, I use them all the time while not even in the fog because of the huge increase in visibility.

HAHA this is a pretty funny post. Of course this is The Cosmetic forum so what can you expect

If you really want to know this stuff beyond purchasing it and using it for the bling factor you can read thru Daniel Stern's website.

ALso I would say most car don't have real fog lights. 95% of them are just auxilary driving lights.

If you guys really want to see better at night without going with HID get some e-codes.

I got cibie E-codes on my porsche and they are fantastic.

My civics light are terrible. I tried to get them to work better but it didn't go so well.
