Default usdm b16/b18c swap in a 99 hatch

in a short form, i bought a 99 hatch with an obd1 d16 causing me a headache. i can't smog it, so i might just fork over the extra cash on a b-series motor, specifically a USDM b16 or gsr motor. what complications can i run into swapping these motors into the hatch. is it the same as the 96-98? i was talking to another honda guy, and he said something about wiring harness's being alot different. dont i jsut use the one that came with the motor? he also mentioned the interior harness not being able to match up.

all in all my question is, what exactly do i need to swap in a b-series into a 99 hatch. thanks in advance.

Okay, listen. I want to get a few facts straight. This is the EG/EK forum.
This is NOT

You guys really need to start thinking before you start posting in here. This forum is for issues relating to the 92-00 Civic ONLY. Swap questions, turbo questions, motor build questions, suspension questions, and anything not relating to this car DO NOT BELONG HERE.

If you still don't get it, follow the guide below to figure out where your thread should go. I have been locking/moving these threads but no one seems to get it.

doesn't the motor have to be the same year or newer than the car it's going into if you live in CA?

Get a 99-00si... You are going to reuse your harness off of your D series motor... Hopefully your stock harness is still intact.. The b16 will bolt right into your car if you have the mounts with the swap... You can even use the AC if the motor comes with it.. The chassis the motor is coming from and yours are the same... If you do a b18 you will need two mounts from the 99si anyway.... Check the hybrid forum in the sticky's there are a couple of good articles regarding ek swaps....
