Is this normal, or will it cause me issues?
Yesterday, I had the front end of my car taken apart to relign all the body panels and such, and as I was on the ground working with the bumper, I noticed this:

Thats the tranny meeting the engine... Notice the gap?

Anyone know if thats normal or something that needs fixed? I put my knife in the gap to kinda show what I was talking about, and it came out with what looked like old oil (was'nt oily anymore, just dirty and nasty, like the crap thats all over the bottom of the engine that you see)

Its hard to see exactly what part that is but I can say this. There should not be any gaps beween your engine and tanny. If the gap size you have depicted is between your engine and tranny thats not right.
Also, there is a flywheel cover plate. I cant tell if thats it or not but if it is that will not be a problem. It kind of looks like its the cover but I cant be certain.
you'll be fine. I dont even use one but thats me. Its not a big deal but if it bugs you just tighten it up.

Thanks for the insight guys...and yes, the oil leaks are next on the list....Its the valve cover gasket thats jacked and needs replaced. I'm gonna do it when I do or have done the timeing belt and water pump. The reason I have'nt done it yet is I dont drive the car, she sits in my driveway constantly getting worked on. New seats will be here shortly, and the body is about ready for paint!
She'll be on the road within about another month or so!!!
