Default hot integra

ok guys i am new and got a problem.i have a 1.8 ls 1995 integra, recently replaced the timing belt, water pump, and when i start the car it is a lil rough.once it is warm it is fine but every once in a while and it is happening more often now i can drive on the highway fine but when i get off the highway and come to a stop light and sit there for an extended amount of time the temp starts to get hot,i can put it in neutral and take the revs to 1.5 and it goes back down or once i start driving it goes down again.it only happens when i am stopped and doesnt always happen.i though it was the heater core or the radiator, has this happened to anyone or does anyone know what could be happening.it has fluid.

Clogged radiator? It seems that it doesn't have enough flow at idle, and when you rev it the waterpump pressures the flow through the radiator. I'm talking out of my *** but that seems logic to me.

Sticky thermostat?

Bet ya my left nut your off a tooth. Who replaced your timing belt? If the cam timing is off it can cause you to overheat at idle. Once you rev up the temp goes to normal.. happened to me once when my dizzy seized. The belt jumped a couple teeth and it was doing the same thing.

well im not a %100 sure thats the problem (guess i should be if im betting my left nut ). But read the Integra FAQ. If you set your motor to TDC you can check if everything lines up. Take the valve cover off and your cam gears should line up and the mark on your crank pulley should line up with your timing mark on the motor. But it really does sound like the cam timing is off.

well if you think you have a bubble in your coolant lines you can get it out by running the car for like 10-15 minutes with the radiator cap off. All the air bubbles will come out. But i dont think an air bubble would cause you to overheat at idle. It definately sounds like a timing problem.. search for how to set your motor to TDC (top dead center). Your #1 cylinder will be at the top. When you take the valve cover off, the cam gears have arrows on them that will point up, and lines on the sides that will be parallel to each other. But again if you search for how to set the motor to TDC you will be able to tell if your cam timing is off. It will explain it better than i could here and have pics. Its real easy, even for a beginner. In fact if you are a beginner looking to learn, this is probably a good place to start. You will have to know how to do this to do many other things.

but also if you find out that the cam timing is off, i would definately take it back and make them fix it.. because a timing belt change is a little more involved and prolly not a good job for a true beginner. But it would be good be armed with the knowledge that THEY screwed it up so they dont try to screw you over and say "well you have this other problem now... thatll be 300 bucks."

But tommorow when you can post again let me know what happens.

Glad you figured it out cheap and quickly
