I wouldn't know for sure but maybe your car is running super rich due to an o2 sensor? I my car was getting horrible gas mileage, around 25-27 and I put one in and now I am getting between 33-37 per gallon now. Could try that!

hmm. mine seems to bog a little in the lower rpm ranges (2000-3000) but really kicks in after that. Would it have anything to do with my o2 mapping sensor thing. I ask this because the o2 maping sensor on the top of the intake (my engine is from a 96 civ) is not plugged in at all.

if theres any merrit, could be that.

check your grounding? Mine was jacked...acted like it was'nt getting fuel/spark to a few pistons when you would try to rev it, and after a few seconds of bogging/acting like it wanted to stall, it would catch and rev up....but it seemed to idle ok...and when you really pushed the gas, it would rev up after a sec of bogging, but if you held it at a certain rpm, it would run fine, and then you try to rev it up a lil more, it would drop before it would rasie the rpms....So, after a COMPLETE expensive tuneup, I was lost for ideas...So, I got to looking and my grounding straps, both the one from the battery to the frame/tranny and the one from the valve cover to the radiator cross member thingy where nasty and frayed. So, I replaced them, and it fixed my problem. I could'nt find replacements, so I had to make my own:

Oh, and it would also smoke, similar to what you explained....May be worth at least checking???
