drain all your coolant out, buy a thermostat, put it in..fill it with coolant, bleed the system then report back to us.

overheating will be caused by just a few things.

1) Bad radiator
2) Air in the coolant lines

Replacing your coolant (along with flushing it... can't hurt) will cost you $10-15. A thermostat is (I believe) $20 or so.

A new radiator will cost you $100 or so at Autozone plus new coolant.

if you had no heat it probably means your thermostat is bad and it needs replacing.

It's also possible you have a leak in your coolant system.

Oh, and you can't just use water. you need to mix it 50/50 with antifreeze. Please get a Chilton or Haynes manual when you next go to autozone or wherever you go to get car stuff.

My guess is the thermostat, same thing happened on my mom's car. It only cost 8 bucks for a new thermostat and gasket for her car though. Good luck!
