Sway bars..rear strut bars..
ok..i have a 98 gsr ans am looking to increase my suspension midly (cant afford springs/shocks or even coilovers). So heres my Q. Would a rear upper tower strut bar or a bigger, stronger sway bar increase my handling more at this point? i do not have a strut bar (rear) at all as of now. i was dumb and bought a spoon front strut bar so people would see it...but i already had the factory one...sigh im dumb. any input?

Strut bars won't do much, if anything, to your handling. Especially since your gsr (like mine) came with a front one already in the car. I can't even tell the difference when mine is off, and thats with 400 lbs/in springs.
My first suspension mod was a Comptech rear swaybar, and it made a world of difference. Reduced bodyroll in around town driving, without really affecting ride quality, and really helped reduce understeer during autocross. And, if you do decide to go with stiffer springs later, it will still be a very nice suspension piece to keep.
Alternatives to the Comptech piece are out there, including the stock type-r rear swaybar, but be sure you find some form of subframe reinforcement to go with it, especially with the soft stock springs.

I also did the ITR sway bar with the BSQ kit. I have allways had the rear upper strut bar in the car. I doubt you will notice any difference with just the upper strut, but as part of the overall suspension package every little bit helps.

May i ask where u got it for $150 all together?

The sway bar is only about $100 from the dealer, I think you also have to buy the bushingsa dn clamps. If I remember right it cost me about $120 with shipping. The BSQ kit you can make at home, or purchase for $25. The beeks kit is a few more bucks.
You can just pick one ITR bar up on ebay or anywhere cheap you can find. I dont really like the dealer except as a last resort, since they like to rip you off. And Sway bar doesnt really wears out. Used one is just fine. Beaks kit is about 40 bucks.

Sway bar itself from dealer along with all new hardware was 90 bones and then the beaks kit was 70 shipped.

I would definitely focus on the sway bars. I have a gsr and i felt a really big difference after i installed the rear itr sway bar. The front of a gsr and type r are the same size.
