i can't pass emissions but my check engine lights on and i bumped off the code 3 and 10 map and ips and i was wondering if that might be why i cant pass i think so but want to know to make sure
its common sense. usually when a car throws codes, it means your car isnt running in proper condition. and when your car doesnt run how it is supposed to, it usually doesnt pass smog. go fix your problems and chances are you'll pass.

its just a rule of thumb

I dont think they will pass you with a check engine light on. They should have given you a sheet of paper that shows what you passed and didn't. Or he just didn't run you car at all due to the check engine light.
it depends on the state. im here in nazifornia so if theres ANYTHING not acting right in my car, im screwed. some states however, just do the sniffer check and no visual so it depends. but id suggest you fix your problems right away

i live in tennessee and obd1 u dont have to have ur check engine light off obd2 u do but i am miss fireing and its throwing code 3 and 10 thats map and what ever 10 is i cant think of it right now but if i fi the map and other one 10 should it pass and also i changed my plugs and wires and it is still miss fireing
Check your map and tps cause those are the codes being thrown and if you dont have a cat, get one, thats all i did to pass and i think i had a light on at the time.
just pull ur battery cable off overnite thatll take care of the check engine light for a bout 4 days then if ur not passing emmisions buy a magna flow cat and take off ur noise resignator or just cut in the new cat and go straight to get it smogged and it should pass thats what i did to my civic and went from like 789 or something on emmisions and it dropped after to like 70 got my tags

so i guess i ll just change the map and tps and then reset the computer and then ill try the emissions so thanks for the help ll try those and if it dont work ill ask for more help so thanks to all who had input
no because when they send your car through inspection they dont just look at the light they have a computer that hooks up to your ecu so say you did get the CEL unpinned they would still know its throwing codes so it proves to be a pointless effort and a bitch to put the light back in
unhook the battery over night like hatch96y7 said let it sit overnight the day before the inspection it should reset your ecu and you should be clear for a few hours to a couple days due to the ecu not reading it immiediatly

Good point johnny ricer, when i had my car smogged this dude just looked under my hood at the emissions sticker , checked vaccum, stuck some crap on muffler tip, looked at my dash for codes, wiggles sensors and wires. and that's all.
==
expletive now im wondering if i can get a d16z6 emissions sticker under my hood to make it look stock? and a d16y7 valve cover. hmm.
