My speedometer stopped working but the rpm and gas gauges still work, plus my check engine light in on, i hope its nothing serious. whats the problem? does anyone know what could be the problem? i checked all the fuses and its not the fuses, i also got it scanned it it seems to be a wire problem but im unsure. well, im taking it to the dealers tomorrow and i was hoping someone might know whats wrong and save me some $$$ i would appreciate it very much.

 

I would check your VSS sensor. Try cleaning it, majority of the time this will correct the problem.

 

Check the check engine light for codes, directions to do that are at the top of this forum. Chances are it will be a code for a Speed Sensor. It's easy to change.

 

Its probably your VSS because it tends to break. I just had mine changed because my did the same thing too. Mine was $30. the VSS and the selfdone mechanic.
