I am trying to find some holes on the drivers side of my 98 SH to run some wires through the firewall, but the only one i can find, doesn't seem to go straight through. Is it easier to just drill a new hole and put a grommet in? I would appreciate any help you guys and girls could provide.

Above your pedals and steering column, there is a rubber disc about 3" wide with a bundle of wires, taped together, going through it. If your trying to feed a power line through, CAREFULLY drill a hole through the rubber(not too close to the bundle). (Big help if a friend is on the other side under the hood looking for the penetrating drill) Then have your friend feed the wire through the new hole (helps if you bend the wire into a point) and wait until you see it come through on your end inside. Then just pull. Hope that helps.

Please take your time doing this. If you cut one of those existing wires by accident, you will be kicking yourself. Good Luck.

 

I cut the boot under the fuse box on the passenger side, and stick a coat hanger down through there
